Phil Nivens

Vice President of Operations

Phil Nivens serves as Vice President of Operations with ITC Defense, a multidimensional role with a specific focus on providing the leadership, strategic plans, operational systems and quality controls for the successful planning, execution, and operations of lines of business.  Mr. Nivens developed his passion for establishing efficient operational infrastructures; providing exceptional service delivery; and a belief that employees are a company’s greatest asset, over 25 years of leadership experience supporting the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). 

Prior to joining ITC Defense Mr. Nivens served as Chief Operating Officer for MatinFederal Consulting, ensuring superior service delivery across service lines: Engineering & Tech Services, Training Solutions, Advanced IT Solutions and Cyber Solutions for customers including U.S. Army Sustainment Command’s (ASC) Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP), Oak Ridge National Laboratory, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Mission Operations and Integration (MO&I), U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) Army Field Support Center (AFSC), U.S Army National Guard Professional Education Center (PEC) Strength Maintenance Training Center (SMTC), The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Fire Research Laboratory (FRL) and the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Korean War History Project. 

Mr. Nivens spent many great years working for SAIC as a Program Management Senior Manager.  His last role was serving as the Deputy Program Manager for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command (AMCOM LCMC) Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) II and most recently ITSS III contracts.  His leadership and guidance over the operational planning, establishment, execution, and evaluation of program level actions resulted in SAIC’s first Capability Maturity Model for Services (CMMI-SVC) rating of Maturity Level 2. 

A 1994 graduate from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, majoring in Finance, he also holds Project Management Professional (PMP) and ITIL Foundation 3 certifications.  Mr. Nivens is a Leadership Greater Huntsville alum, graduating from the Management Academy and continues to volunteer his time speaking during program days.  He serves on the Board of Directors for the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) as the VP of Education.
